Head, Heart, Hands is our effort to provide essential tools needed by the people of King’s Baptist to be equipped Christ followers who can be used of the Lord as they worship, disciple, serve and reach.

HEAD: what we know,

HEART: the character we live, the understanding we possess

HANDS: the work and skill needed to fulfill our personal and corporate call to Christ's service

It’s not 1950, 1970, 1990, 2000, or even 2010. The context, the mission field, the culture, the technology, that is to say the situation we find ourselves in is drastically and quickly changing.

Christians and churches (particularly churches determined to hold and declare the faith once and for all delivered to the saints) are not widely well thought of and respected in the United States, Florida nor Indian River County. We are a minority and more and more a distrusted and many assume fading minority.

Our situation still has many advantages and vestiges of tradition that makes our life far easier than many believers across the world, but these advantages are quickly! fading and every indication warns us and demands from us new ways of seeing our work as a church.

We do not live in a Christian nation or even a nation with strong Christian influences. The media, most educational institutions, the courts and political leadership of our nation no longer honor Christian virtues and ways of thinking that  just a few decades ago could be taken as givens:

  • the God given worth and rights of every human being,
  • the central role and high desirability of life long marriages that produce and are responsible for readying children for responsible lives
  • the acceptance that God has created us male and female, both equal but different callings ordained by our Creator
  • a common morality based on the 10 Commandments
  • kindness and mercy based on God’s graciousness to us
  • a sense of purpose that calls people to live for more than the next amusement or diversion
  • an understanding of at least the basics of the biblical story and gospel message

To suppose that most or any of the Christians who presently are in the church are well enough equipped in their knowledge and thinking to withstand the already but soon be greater buffeting and challenges ahead is naive. To imagine that our own character, thought processes, and understanding of the calling to live holy lives has not been compromised can only be explained by the analogy of the frog in the soon to be boiling pot!

We do not need nor can we go back to what was. Things will never be as they once were, and some of that is good. Our Head, the Lord Jesus Christ has provided us what His church needs for these days. We have His perfect Word, His leading and directing Holy Spirit and the eternal promises of His grace that free us to serve and live fearlessly and boldly.

Now is the time to shake the spirit of defeat, despair and resignation that can too easily grip us and instead reengage the battle. This is no time to play safe with “our church”. We are but part of His eternal church and only the Father knows how our faithfulness to Him now will ripple through the rest of history an on into eternity. With a new urgency we must make sure every one He has entrusted to our fellowship is equipped and engaged in their part of God’s calling.
