Savannah Georgia Local News Coverage of Our World Changers

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
More than 300 students from churches around the country are in Savannah this week hoping to make a difference by repairing homes.

Teens are working on a Savannah home in the hot sun to help a family in need.

They’re climbing, tearing, and hammering all under the blazing sun. They are the World Changers.

Their mission is to fix up homes for people in need. Josh McIntosh, Sarah West and Jesse Keane are part of one of 30 crews in Savannah this week.

“We enjoy it. We love every second of it, and it’s really good to help people out,” said West.

Erica Albright lives with her grandmother in a home the World Changers are fixing up. She’s been watching the teens work on the roof in the heat and is so thankful.

“It’s nice to have people to help you because you know some aren’t able to afford stuff like this and them being able to do this for us, it’s just a blessing,” said Albright.

Some say it would be a blessing if the temperatures would drop just a little, but they say they’re doing their best.

McIntosh said they try to work when it’s cool and then when they sun comes out and it gets hot, they work for shorter periods.

They also drink plenty of water.

“We’ve been trying to take breaks as much as possible,” said West.

While it might take them a little extra time to finish their projects, they say to help someone in need is still worth every minute out in the high temperatures.

“They are strong-hearted Christians,” said Keane. “There’s a lot of kids here this week and they are all giving a 110 percent.”

The students also paid more than $250 to work on 30 different projects throughout Savannah.

The city of Savannah bought all the supplies and Ardsley Baptist Church is providing the students with a place to stay.

Tyler Bursick, Pastoral Intern

Sunday night Tyler Bursick was formally approved by the church to serve a summer pastoral internship here. He will be working with the pastors in a broad range of responsibilities that will broaden his experiences in pastoral work and enhance our work together. If you have not gotten to know Tyler, he can do MUCH more than move the pulpit and play the trombone.

Tyler appears and narrates a Framework Video from 2009

Amazing Message

Josh Crowe preached his first full sermon tonight, but that is beside the point. The Lord spoke powerfully and pointedly through His word and through Josh calling us all to the mission of taking the gospel to the end of the world. How can we criticize those with the unbiblical idea of universalism and yet practically live as though those lies were true?
