Welcome to the Worship and Music ministry page of King’s Baptist. We exist for the glory of God and seek to serve His bride, the church, through offering our talents and gifts in leading His people in corporate worship.
Worship is giving God the glory He alone deserves. Worship is our personal and corporate response to God, in spirit and in truth, for Who He is and what He has done. It is expressed by what we say, sing and the way we live. Music is one tool he has given us to help us do that. Scripture is full of examples of the vital role music plays in the worship of God. Psalm 66:2 says, “Sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise!”
Our Worship Ministry includes singing and playing instruments. We worship with our voices, our instruments, from our hearts, singing praises to the Lord for His unfailing love and grace. We do not believe that singing praise to God in a church service is, in and of itself, worship. However, we do believe that singing praise to God is a command to all and is a powerful way to respond to our God and King. From the worship choir, the instrumentalists and every single pew, the voices and instruments of King’s are the joyful noise we offer to God for all He is and all He has done for us through Christ Jesus.
Our vision is to enable the full, conscious and active participation of the people at King’s by inspiring them to worship in spirit and in truth. We believe worship must have a head and a heart. We love deep and sound doctrine (Acts 17:11; Titus 1:9; 1 Timothy 6:3-5; 1 Peter 3:14-15) while also knowing that God desires our worship to be full of our heartfelt affections for Him(Isaiah 29:13; John 4:23; Romans 8:26, Romans 15:13; Philippians 1:8; Galatians 5:22-23; James 4:5).
God is our audience and truly knowing Him and giving Him glory is our ultimate goal. That is our passion in the Worship/Music Ministry, and we invite you to join us as we seek to grow in grace and in truth, singing and making melody from our hearts to the Lord.
The worship choir is an open group made up of youth through adults. The choir serves in the corporate worship services by leading in the song service and singing anthems. No audition required. The choir also leads out in special Christmas and Easter musical presentations. If you love to sing and make a joyful noise you are welcome and encouraged to join us at any time. Worship Team (Vocalists)
Members of the Worship Team are first members of King’s and members of the Worship Choir. This is an auditioned group who lead from the stage each week in rotation in the song service. There is a higher level of experience and talent needed for this group as well as a more intensive time and attendance commitment. If interested in serving in this group, please call the Music Office. Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 6:15-9:00 (Sanctuary)
The worship orchestra is open to any instrumentalists with a few years of training and experience. No age requirements. We are a growing group and welcome you to join us as we seek to enlarge this medium and expand our instrumentation. The orchestra serves in the corporate worship services accompanying the song service. Rehearsals: Wednesday, 7:00-9:00 (Sanctuary)
The youth band is led by youth, for the youth worship held each Wednesday evening. Primarily the band is a rhythm section made up of guitars, keyboard and drums with vocalists. If you are interested in being a part of this group please contact the Youth Pastor.
Our children are divided into two groups for choir: Preschool, including ages 3-5, and Graded School for 1st-6th graders. The children learn a variety of songs and hymns and present one major musical each year as well as participating with the Worship Choir on certain occasions. They also learn the rudiments of music through the use of rhythm instruments. If you have a child in this age group this is the perfect place to enroll them and have them learn about music and enjoy singing and playing with other children. Rehearsals: Sunday, 4:30-5:45 beginning February 21.
